SomaSensory Journey: From Form to Feeling
In modern Greek, soma simply refers to the body as structure: physical, visible, anatomical. In ancient philosophy, it was seen as the container of the soul. In somatic practice, soma is not just the body you have; it is the body you are: the breathing, sensing, feeling body that holds memory, emotion, and presence.
A SomaSensory Journey follows two natural pathways, each beginning from a different place, both meeting in the same felt sense of presence.
From the Outside In
This path begins in the external world. Through Elemental Journeys and Walking the Walk, the outer environment becomes the guide. What surrounds you, light, air, texture, sound, opens something within.

I was on holiday with my husband and children when I met Figen. My time spent with her not only made me feel like I was on a private holiday within my family holiday, but gave me simple tools on how to carve out time for myself, when and as needed. — Ayse
From the Inside Out
It was during this same time that I met her son.
When he was just a few years old, his aunt had died in a car accident while he was present. The trauma was never addressed. In the years that followed, all attention had been directed toward correcting his stutter; the root of it, his grief, had gone unseen.
The session with him created a space of deep rest, where nothing needed to be fixed or forced.
In that safety, his body began to soften, and with it, his emotions surfaced. Memories of his aunt, and the love she had shown him, came forward. What had been locked away in tension found release in the quiet of simple touch and accompaniment.
Only later did his family realize the connection. As his body found ease, so did his voice. He was encouraged to explore singing while playing the piano, where expression now flows in a new way.
